Christina Aguilera, the most famous person born in Staten Island, has been invited to sing the national anthem before a Brooklyn Cyclones game this upcoming summer at the home stadium in Coney Island. She gained success with hit singles “Genie in a Bottle”, “What a Girl Wants”, and “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You). No word on whether she will accept or if be a blonde or brunette…hopefully will accept and be blonde. Christina and I have the same birthday but there is no word on where the party will be. The Dodgers will wear nostalgia baseball uniforms from the golden age of baseball for 6 home games this summer in Los Angeles. LA sucks move back to Brooklyn!

Wally Backman was hoping to become the new manager of the New York Mets but was promoted from Single-A to the team’s Double-A Binghamton affiliate. The former World Series Champion Met, 25 years ago and counting, was interviewed by Mets and passed over for Terry Collins, who has not managed in years. Backman lead the Cyclones Baseball Team to a first-place finish in the New York-Penn League last season and Tim Teufel, also on the 1986 Mets, moves up as the manager of Triple-A Buffalo. It is expected that Rich Donnelly will be named manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones. Other Cyclones notes: Beach Bum Auditions underway apply by March 24 and season tickets are on sale. The New York Aviators (19-12-2) of the Federal Hockey League (FHL, minor league) are currently in third place and play home games at the Aviator Sports and Events Center located at 3159 Flatbush Avenue. The New Jersey Nets Basketball Team (13-32) is planning to relocate to Brooklyn once the new Barclays Center arena is completed in the spring or summer of 2012.  The Center is expected to have ice which hopefully won’t give the sucky “looking for a new arena” Islanders any ideas…how does Kansas City sound and take the “never any talent trapping” Devils with you. Brooklyn is New York Rangers territory! The site of the arena is near where the Dodgers should be playing NOW…not in Los Angeles where evil Walter O’Malley moved the loveable bums after a plan was rejected and the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Never elected but powerful Robert Moses’ plan had other ideas for the land and wanted to build a new stadium where the Mets lose now. The Nets would be the first major professional sports team to play their home games in Brooklyn since the devastating move of the Dodgers. However don’t expect Carmelo Anthony to rot away in New Jersey for a year before the Barclays Center arena opens, he’ll be on Broadway by opening night October 2011.  South Brooklyners braved the frigid cold to fill the local watering holes to watch the Jets in the AFC Championship Football Game play against what beautiful actress and model Sienna Miller calls Shittsburgh. As the Stealers and non-registered sex offender “Big Goofy Looking” Ben Roethlisberger beat the Jets.

Brooklyn baseball originally began in 1883. Teams were known as the Brooklyn Atlantics, Bridegrooms, Grooms, Superbas, Robins, and Trolley Dodgers before officially becoming the Dodgers in the 1930s. In Brooklyn, the Dodgers played at Ebbets Field located in the Flatbush section on Bedford Avenue. Jackie Robinson became the first African American to play Major League Baseball. He played his first game on April 15, 1947, for the Brooklyn Dodgers… the team won only one World Series which came in 1955.  Walter O’Malley had acquired majority ownership of the Dodgers in 1950 and wanted to build a new stadium in Brooklyn. New York politicians refused to let him build the Brooklyn stadium he wanted. The “REAL” Dodgers played their final game in Brooklyn on September 24, 1957…soon after and maybe to this day people in Brooklyn believe the 3 most evil men on earth were Stalin, Hitler and Walter O’Malley. So who do people in Brooklyn root for….Yankees or Mets? Mets “fans” say it’s one or the other…not both!! So I journeyed out to see each team’s new ball park over the last 14 months… May 2009 Yankee Stadium- AJ Burnett walks a batter in the first inning…the Yankee fans panic “Oh how could he walk him (as if the season was over).. too much passion? May 2009 Citi (bankrupt) Field.. Mets fans are constantly watching the scoreboard..hoping the Yankees are losing .. hello you paid money to watch a scoreboard not the game?..Yankee Stadium late season vs. Boston … ah again every pitch is life or death…Citi Field late season vs. hated Atlanta…one Mets fan yells “Yankees won’t win the World Series…will be swept by Angels in the first round !!” Well, i didnt pee’d or puked on..unlike Philly! Are there any Mets fans or Anti-Yankees fans in Queens? Subway Series 2010, I hung out with some Mets “fans”…ahhh the season is complete we beat the Yankees 2 out of 3 !!! Ya sure beats winning only 1 World Series since Watergate!
