The New York Aviators won games this past weekend over the Federal Hockey League’s first and second place teams to improve their record to 16-12-2.

Sunday’s win over the first-place Akwesasne Warrior’s was the Aviator’s fifth straight, powered by an offensive onslaught from Jesse Felten (3 goals, 3 assists), Matthew Puntureri (1 goal, 4 assists), and Mike Thomson (1 goal, 3 assists).

Angelo Serse tallied two goals and Kevin Druce stopped 37 shots to lead the Aviator’s to a 4-3 victory over the second-place 1000 Islands Privateers on Saturday night. Andrew Scampoli also scored, and Chris Holmes added a shorthanded goal and an assist.

With these two wins, the Aviators have collected 34 points and remain in third place in League standings, and move to 11-1-1 on the season on home ice.

Transactions: Defenseman David Inman became the first Aviators player to be called up to the East Coast Hockey League, going to the Elmira Jackals after scoring 5 goals and 8 assists in 25 games with the A’s.
