They are a dime a dozen in Manhattan, but now people in Southern Brooklyn don’t have to go far for an adult store. KamaSutra at 1717 Sheepshead Bay Road is open from 11am to 10pm every day. The adult novelty store sells a wide variety of sex toys to satisfy your wild side. Just look at the storefront window display, although some of more kinky items have been taken inside. Some of the locals are outraged by the shop opening up while some others don’t have a problem.

It is clear to me that this is a local issue. It is one thing for a business such as this to exist in Manhattan, especially in an area that is predominantly business oriented. But in a more community type setting, it is perhaps more important that permission be granted locally before such an establishment is allowed to open up in the first place. There is after all a sub-society that must exist around this business, more than likely more family oriented, and for all to peacefully co-exist, there requires a certain amount of compromise for all to do so happily and comfortably. Aren’t there zoning laws that cover situations such as these?

If it is not located near a school…and they dont allow minors inside..then so be it.
