Last week, Council Member Dominic Recchia announced the six-week Tuesday night concert/movie series at Asser Levy Seaside Park for this summer. While lacking the star power of Marty Markowitz’s Thursday night series, the Recchia series has five solid musical acts, and an outdoor movie thrown in for fun.

All show times – 7:30 p.m.

  • Tuesday, July 13 – 7:30 p.m. – Art Lillard’s Heavenly Big Band (official site)
  • Tuesday, July 20 – 7:30 p.m. – The Boilermaker Jazz Band (video)
  • Tuesday, July 27 – 7:30 p.m. – SHOUT! The MOD Musical (video)
  • Tuesday, August 10 – 7:30 p.m. – The Bensen-Scott Big Band (official site)
  • Tuesday, August 24 – 7:30 p.m. – Kenny Vance & The Planotones (video)

Also, on Tuesday, August 17, there will be an 8pm showing of Mamma Mia! The Movie. This is great – I love outdoor movies, and I really want to see more of them in South Brooklyn this summer and in the years to come. I’d rather watch a Twilight Saga marathon for an entire week, and then be forced to read the Sookie Stackhouse series before going to see Mamma Mia, but hey, I hope the weather is nice!
