Super-Saturday in Coney Island is upon us. If you don’t have any plans this Saturday, you should really think about coming down to Coney Island.
Mermaid Parade: Kicks off at 2pm. Starts at Surf Avenue and W. 21st Street this year, rolls 11 blocks down to the Cyclone, then backtracks on the Boardwalk to Stillwell Avenue. The Mermaid Parade goes down Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk, starting at 2pm. Official afterparty starts at 6pm at the Aquarium, unofficial parties will be all over the Boardwalk.
Post-parade: I love being in Coney Island after the Mermaid Parade. The beach is crowded and the Boardwalk is teaming with energy. And there are yet more events in the evening. There’s no wrong thing to do:
Mermaid Parade Ball: At the Aquarium this year on the Oceanic Deck. Burlesque and all that stuff. $25 at the door, starts at 6pm.
Brooklyn Cyclones Home Opener: The Cyclones begin the season on Friday night in Staten Island, but get the home show started on Saturday against the same Yankees of St. George. Game starts at 6pm in MCU Park.
Post-game: In addition to the post-game fireworks, top-tier cover band Holla Back will be playing in front of Peggy O’Neill’s at MCU Park at 10pm.
