Coney Island Rendering Looks Like A Storyboard From Tron

(Screenshot: nydailynews.com)
Yesterday, the Daily News wrote about the big-ticket development projects in Brooklyn. Can someone refresh my memory – whose Coney Island rendering was this? Was it the City’s? Was it Thor’s? Was it a first attempt, or was it a subsequent iteration? There were so many, so I get confused easily.
Totally digging the way that this vision of Coney Island looks like Tron. Will any of the arcades be adding Light Cycles?

Ouch! (About the Blade Runner comment, that is.)

RE the comment “Why does the surrounding area look more like midtown
Manhattan than Coney Island?’
Because the rendering represents the super gentrification of Coney Island. The rezoning puts 26 high rise residential towers and 5,000 new units of housing in Coney Island. This hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves because most of the public opposition has been to the 4 high hotels proposed for the south side of Surf Ave

Wow, this is one I hadn’t seen before. Is that a giant pink roller coaster encapsulating the entire amusement district, and dwarfing the Cyclone? Why does the surrounding area look more like midtown Manhattan than Coney Island?
You say Tron, but I think they were aiming for Gattaca. In reality, I think it’ll end up more like Blade Runner. Regardless, I think the old men that are behind these deals should get the Logan’s Run treatment.
